Victron Energy Orion-Tr Smart 12/12-30 DC-DC Charger, Non-Isolated, 360 W (ORI121236140)
The Victron Energy Orion-Tr Smart 12/12-30 is a non-isolated DC-DC charger that feeds a 12 V house battery from the starter battery and alternator with 30 A of continuous output at 104°F (40°C). It runs a three-stage charge profile, or a fixed output in power supply mode, and is set up over Bluetooth in the VictronConnect app. Engine-running detection lets it work with smart alternators.
Compatible with: smart alternators (Euro 5/6), through engine-running detection.
Highlights
- Input runs from 8 V to 17 V, and the output can be set anywhere from 10 V to 15 V.
- The charger can deliver 40 A for 10 seconds at nominal output voltage minus 20%, and the output is short-circuit proof.
- With the engine off, the charger keeps the starter and house batteries separated, so it does not discharge the starter battery.
- A two-pole connector lets a remote switch turn the charger on and off.
- Any number of units can be connected in parallel to raise output current.
- The manual calls for 60 A external battery fuses (not included), and the unit has no reverse polarity protection.
