Trilogy T2 models, such as the DL2700 lock and the DL1200 trim, are standalone keypad locking devices. They hold up to 100 user codes plus a master code and three service codes, all programmed at the keypad.

The Trilogy T3 DL3500 adds a clock. Alarm Lock's DL3500 spec sheet lists the DL35 models as the "Trilogy T3 Mortise Series", with 300 user codes, a 40,000-event audit trail, up to 500 scheduled events and programming from a Windows PC.

Trilogy T2: keypad access, programmed at the door

Alarm Lock's T2 sheet covers the DL2700 and DL2700LD cylindrical locks, the DL2700CR (classroom) and DL2700DB (deadbolt) mortise locks, the DL1200 narrow-stile trim and the ETDL27 exit trim. All of them have the same code count.

  • Up to 100 codes: on the DL2700 that's 10 manager codes and 90 basic user codes, plus one master code and three one-time service codes.
  • Programming at the keypad. Alarm Lock lists the DL2700 as "keypad only".
  • Passage mode, and lockout codes for one user, a group or all users.
  • Remote override over 2 wires, or key bypass.
  • Weatherproof from −31°F to 151°F, per the T2 sheet. Alarm Lock's newer DL2700 sheet (ALA129K) gives that range for WP models and says Trilogy locks also come as non-WP models for interior doors. The DL3500 sheet gives −20°F to 151°F for all Trilogy mortise models, so the two sheets disagree for the DL2700CR and DL2700DB.

The DL2700 runs on five AA batteries, rated for 200,000 cycles or up to 5 years (typical). It is nonhanded, and Alarm Lock lists it as a BHMA Grade 1 lockset with a deadlocking latch that carries a UL 3-hour fire rating.

The T2 sheet lists no clock, audit trail or schedules.

Trilogy T3: audit trail and schedules

The DL3500 mortise lock is the T3 model we carry. Its spec sheet lists:

  • 300 user codes in four levels: master, manager, supervisor and basic user.
  • A real-time clock with up to 500 scheduled events and holiday schedules, and four built-in time schedules. Events can lock or unlock the door and disable or enable users.
  • A 40,000-event audit trail: a printable, time- and date-stamped record of all electronic activity, including user entries, unauthorized code attempts and program mode changes.
  • Programming at the keypad, from the AL-DTMIII Data Transfer Module, or from a PC running Alarm Lock's DL-Windows software. The audit trail can be read with the AL-DTMIII, or straight into the PC with an AL-PCI2-U USB interface cable, which includes DL-Windows software. Both are sold separately.
  • Quick Passage mode, a tri-color LED and a programmable Form C relay.
  • Weatherproof from −20°F to 151°F, per the DL3500 sheet. Alarm Lock's mortise web page gives −31°F to 151°F.

It runs on five AA alkaline batteries, rated for 80,000 cycles (typical) on the DL3500 sheet. Alarm Lock's mortise web page lists both 80,000 and 75,000 cycles.

Tip For doors with a cylindrical prep that need an audit trail, Alarm Lock's cylindrical PIN lock page lists the DL3000, with a 1,600-event log, and the DL3200, with a 40,000-event audit trail and 500 scheduled events.

Battery figures are typical cycles from Alarm Lock's T2 and DL3500 sheets. The mortise web page also gives 75,000 cycles for the DL3500.

How to choose

  • Pick a T2 when the door needs PIN entry, codes are managed at the lock, and no one needs a record of who entered and when.
  • Pick the T3 DL3500 when you need a time-stamped record of entries, a door that locks and unlocks on a schedule, or more than 100 users.
  • Check the door prep as well. A mortise prep doesn't rule out a T2: the T2 line includes the DL2700CR (classroom) and DL2700DB (deadbolt) mortise locks.

Warning On the DL3500, handing is part of the order: the lock body is ordered left- or right-handed and can be reversed in the field.

Decision chart: a T2 if the door needs no time-stamped record, schedule or over 100 users, otherwise a DL3500, DL3000 or DL3200 by door prep
Picking a Trilogy model by what the door needs.
