Icom IC-A25C Handheld Aviation Radio, VHF Airband, COM Only
The IC-A25C is the COM-only member of Icom's A25 handheld series. It transmits and receives across 118–136.992 MHz at 6 W PEP (1.8 W carrier), with 25 kHz and 8.33 kHz channel spacing and 300 memory channels in 15 groups. GPS, VOR and Bluetooth are left out; those are on the IC-A25N.
Highlights
- Pressing [F] and then the 7/121.5 key brings up the 121.5 MHz emergency frequency, and [CLR] goes back.
- Flip-flop recall keeps the last 10 channels used, reachable from the arrow keys or the top knob.
- The 2,350 mAh BP-288 Li-ion pack is rated for up to 10.5 hours at a 5:5:90 transmit/receive/standby cycle.
- The IP57 rating covers dust protection and immersion in 1 m (3.3 ft) of water for 30 minutes.
- The 2.3 in. display shows the frequency in large digits and switches to a night mode for dark cockpits.
- Priority watch checks a chosen channel while the radio sits on another, and weather channels are built in.
